Background

The IT division of a leading Australian University developed a number of innovative emerging tech solutions to position the University as a digital leader in the education sector; this included an AI-powered digital personal assistant. The CDO wanted to explore potential to create new revenue streams for the University, however his team had no commercialisation capability or experience.

Engagement

We co-sourced a new ventures project team with members of client’s internal IT division to combine Venturetec’s business design, commercialisation and lean innovation expertise with the client’s deep technical/industry domain expertise. We led initial discovery and analysis, gaining early validation of market potential, and then ran a rapid customer development process to accelerate the path to commercialisation.

Outcome

Following initial market validation in the health sector, and as a result of the rapid customer development process, the University was able to secure commercial agreements to move to pilot phase with several Alpha customers including a state public health organisation.
